In this book you will read about the bigamist doctor, the doctors awarded the Military Medal as well as the doctor who was convicted of defrauding his patients. There are also details of Wyong’s female dentist during the 1930s as well as the dentist who retired at the age of 81! Details of the chemist who was the inaugural President of the Australian New Guinea Native Fish Association (ANGFA) can also be found in this book. The book also covers Wyong’s ferry services, the ambulance service, the churches, its funeral and hospital services as well as its hotels. People of Wyong Book 4 covers people who have lived in the former Erina and Wyong Shires and recognises the contribution that people from all walks of life have made to the what is now the northern part of the Central Coast Local Government area. Some contributions have been made by people still living, as it is important to include those people who are still contributing to the rich tapestry of the area in which we live. The Norah Head Lighthouse Keepers and the Wyong Abattoir workers are detailed in this book.
The book also shows the changing face of the Wyong township itself with Then and Now Photographs of the town and local area. Wyong’s two most iconic buildings, namely the Chapman Building and the Turreted building often referred to as Turton’s Corner are also featured. |
People of Wyong Book 5 covers all the schools that exist or have existed within the former Wyong Shire Council area. This includes Government and Non-Government schools. A brief history is provided for each school and the names of all Principals and Head Teachers are listed along with their dates of tenure.
