FAMILY HISTORY SERVICES
In 1995 when the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriage established the Transcription Service it became a marvellous aid to Family Historians. The aim was to provide an economical alternative to purchasing official certificates. The success of this initiative over the past 19 years is a proven fact. 23 June 2014 the NSW Registry has launched LifeLink providing another milestone for family history
THE WILDCARD * IS BACK in the NSW BDM INDEX.
This has to be the long awaited return. Without the wildcard * it became a longer process to find index entries when there was a difference in the spelling of names.
The new marriage index requires the Groom and Bride surname to be entered. As this is not always known there had to be a solution. The answer was if one of the parties surname was not known enter *.
The same applies for any name eg DAV*
RESTRICTED YEARS UPDATED DAILY
1 January was an eagerly awaited date for the release of another year of the restricted access registrations. The restricted access is still 100 years for births, 50 years for marriages and 30 years for deaths, but will now be released daily.
