Click on Records and a list of all available will come up. Click on any that are from the areas you are researching ignoring the icons on the right. Scroll down and find a list of the names of all persons who were taxed in that year. The number on the right next to the name searched tells you how many hearths they had therefore how large their house was at that time and that they lived there in that particular year. For the period 1384-1858 original Wills are available on Ancestry under the Prerogative Court of Canterbury and can be printed out. They cover the south of England and Wales. The Prerogative Court of York covers the northern counties plus the Isle of Man. These Wills must be sourced through the Borthwick Institute in York and then be ordered and paid for. From 1858 to 1996 Ancestry has a National Probate Calendar of Wills index but copies must be ordered from GOV.UK where they have a beta site with information. Ancestry also has the following site - UK, Extracted Probate Records, 1269-1975 This site has a small amount of information with each entry. Find My Past has a small selection of Wills online. Pre 1858 Welsh Wills can also be obtained free online from NLW Wills Online. Scottish Wills are able to be purchased through Scotlands People. The Old Bailey Proceedings The Old Bailey Proceedings Online makes avialable a fully searchable, digitised collection of all surviving editions of the Old Bailey Proceedings from 1674 to 1913, and of the Odinary of Newgates`s Accounts between 1676 and 1772. It allows access to 197,752 trials and biographical details of approx 2,5500 men and women executed at Tyburn.
